Friday things

Today I had a meeting with someone who pronounces innovative in-NOH-vat-ive. Weird.

Today I ate peanut lasagne for the first time. It was pretty good, though Ben thought it would taste even better without chickpeas in.

Today, I didn't get to bed very early. Not that I exactly tried very hard.

Tomorrow, I am meeting some people on whom I would to make a good impression. Possibly I should therefore have made more of an effort to get good sleep.

Today, I am happy. Tomorrow I expect to be happy, if a little nervous.

Happy weekend!

How else do you pronounce innovative?

-it is always interesting to me how you can be named after a language and still not speak in correctly ;) -haha, just teasing on all counts, except I really don't know how else to pronounce innovative (it is possible that I am mis-reading the pronunciation key).

hmm...meeting someone you might be nervous about...sounds like future in-laws. but maybe that is too soon. maybe it's just the other set of friends (I think that's worse than in-laws sometimes).

let us know how it goes ^_^

I'd pronounce innovative IN-no-vat-ive, with the stress on the first syllable, rather than in-NOH-vat-ive with the stress on the second syllable. Is that the standard US pronunciation? Sounds odd coming from an Englishman.

Well it's not pronounced inNOvushun, so...

Happy other family/peer group! You'll have a blast. You're extremely hard not to like.

I was mistaken before. I tried saying "innovative" about 37 times just now. I do place the accent on the first syllable, not the second. I think most Americans place the strong accent on the first syllable too.

I can't wait to hear how your weekend went!!!

that probably was me! (I always get called up on my pronounciation....although don't think it was me this time). Comes from teaching and learning from books, not directly from teachers in my case! Like my pronounciation of "risque"= "risky"!!! ...remember that one:-)! Lots of love, rach xxx
